No need for that trucker hitch. The carabiner from Nite Ize is designed to let you adjust lines without tying knots. The carabiner hook lets you attach the figure 9 cleat to anything. To maintain the tension in a line, it passes around the forks to establish some friction and the toothed forks captures the line. Adjusting the tension in a line is easy.

I am sure many boaters can find a use for the figure 9 and @ $6 you would not be any poorer.
