Boat Show Newsletter© This is a roundup of some of what was on show at the London Dinghy Show, plus some other dinghy gear.
New Trapeze gear. Found on Musto's
"pimp my skiff" page is the Lazyhook Trapeze Hook. The ring is separated
from the handle and the hook is angled down and welded to a tube. The rings own weight
allows the ring to spins down
allowing the crew to hook on without fiddling with the hook. It always
aligns itself.
They
say when you get cold its your kidneys that suffer first. Make your
wetsuit a heated one with this device. A built in reusable chemical heat pack which can be activated through your wetsuit when required by locating and then pressing an activator button.
Production Foiler? This is no flash in the pan. The Bladerider is built in China, where else and by McConaghy so we know its quality stuff. The boat sells for $12,000 plus shipping and taxes. Click the image to see video of the Bladerider in action.
If
you want to see some video demonstration on how the components work look
at The daily
sail site. This will require a subscription but its well worth it.
The 55mm Orbit block will be available in the spring 2007. The engineers have eliminated almost all of the metal components using high-tec polymers and fiber equivalents. The construction allows a product that is capable of heavy duty workload combined with a light weight. They have engineered out the steel load straps, head posts, shackle, fasteners and cleating accessories. They have replaced the traditional shackle with an innovative Dyneema link configuration.
Microfleece Superwarm The suits come in two core materials above. The Mircrofleece would be used in Sydney where is warm most of the year. There are no arms on the suits and you can add outer layers as required. The Superwarm is a 4 layer material with nylon outer layer and next to the skin a microfleece thermal layer.
Zhik
also has an interesting line of boots and also a barefoot boot for the
dighy sailor that does not like to wear boots but needs protection
The Regatta Master Watch is specifically sailing-orientated, with a countdown feature for use prior to race starts, a timer, digital compass, calendar and alarm all built-in. I do not see it on the web site yet but looks good. £70 pounds sterling. |
